Admissions FAQ
  • I am currently majoring in natural science. Is it possible for me to apply for the Graduate School of Dentistry?
Of course. There are many students who majored in science and engineering and are currently conducting active researches in areas involving basic dental sciences and clinical dentistry.
  • My grades are not great. Is there any minimum grade point average I must attain in order to apply?
There is no minimum GPA that applicants must attain. However, GPA is converted into certain scores based on standards and therefore, an applicant’s GPA may be considered as one of the factors for admission during the selection process.
  • How is the admission interview conducted?
Interviews last no more than 20 minutes for each applicant. You may be asked some general academic questions pertaining to your major. If the applicants have deligently studied their major from the bottom up, they should not have a difficult time answering the questions.
  • Do you give preference to graduates of Seoul National University?
No, we do not give a preference to graduates of Seoul National University.
  • I only have a TOEIC score.
Applicants with only TOEIC scores are not eligible to apply. Applicants are required to present TEPS score (750 or above) or TOEFL score (IBT 103 or above). Language proficiency test scores are only valid for two years from the opening date of the admission application. Also, we do not accept TOEIC scores.
  • What type of financial aid is available?
BK21 scholarship or research funds for each research laboratory are available for admitted applicants. For more information on financial aid, please contact your academic advisor.
  • How does the appointment process for academic advisor work?
After each freshman submits the application to each classroom office, a head professor will draft the appoinment list. Then the Graduate Student Advisory Board will review the list and finalize the appointment.
  • During the admission process, can I enroll in a combined masters and doctorate program?
The combined masters and doctorate program is designed for applicants enrolled in the masters program who wish to pursue a continuous program of study leading to doctoral degrees. This program allows applicants to skip the doctoral application process and to concentrate on research and scholarly work thereby shortening the entire process of maters and doctoral studies upto one year. Since only the applicants for the masters program are eligible for the combined program, you cannot enroll for the combined program during the admission process.
  • What happens to my degree if I quit midway through the combined masters and doctorate program?
When academic achievement in respect to credit completion, class attitude, or dissertation examination is so poor that it may result in expulsion from the program, an academic advisor is required to present a written opinion to the Graduate Student Advisory Board and the Dean. However, if students completed certain credit hours, they may earn their degree. If students cannot earn any degree, they may be considered as completing the certificate program.
