
Seoul National University School of Dentistry which is about to celebrate its 100th anniversary, is taking a step forward
in their goal to become one of the top 10 dental education institution in the world.
SNUSD announced the achievements that the school has made throughout the years along with sharing its 100th anniversary
preparations through a press conference on the May 11th.
This year, SNUSD was selected for the ‘SNU 10-10 Project'. The 10-10 Project is one of the key project promoted by SNU headquarters.
The project was launched with the aim of promoting and supporting academic fields with excellent research capabilities and potential.
SNUSD competed with 38 academic field and was selected as one of the seven best academic fields to participate in this project.
Through the project, SNUSD will receive 300 million won per year for the next six years totaling up to 1.8 billion won.
The aim of this project is for SNUSD to become one of the top 10 dental education institutions in the world within six years.
It is also worth noting that as part of this project, the “Digital Zone” was established in the Predoctoral Treatment Center located
on the first floor of Seoul National University Dental Hospital in February.
Through the establishment, it intends to maximize the clinical experience of students' digital treatment in accordance with the era
of the 4th Industrial Revolution. SNUSD’s aspires to greatly enhance the clinical education infrastructure by 2030 and establish
itself as the world's best dental education institution.
It should also be noted that SNUSD participated in the “Promotion of Medical Device Commercialization Project” supported by
the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The project was judged to have organized a medical industry and medical education
package as a detailed project, presented a cooperation model for industrial-educational cooperation, and provided a foothold for
export of dental education in Korea.
Additionally, SNUSD has been approved by the Seoul National University headquarters to expand and renovate the main building.
The school has been hard at work to improve and provide the best educational environment to the succeeding generations.
Jung-Suk Han, the dean of SNUSD said “Currently, the dental community has been somewhat shrinking in appearance due to the
COVID19 pandemic, but I hope everyone will work hard to overcome this hardship together and prepare for the future.
He continued on to say “ SNUSD is committed to preparing for a new centenary of dental education in Korea as
professors, students, alumni, and faculty members unite to prepare for the 100
th anniversary in 2022.
