Seoul National University School of Dentistry attempts to create the world’s leading research results with 5 main research departments, and research support departments, affiliated with the Dental Research Institute, Seoul National University. As a result, since 2005, it has annually published average 143 journals registered in the Science Citation Index (SCI). Also, the total value of orders has increased year-over-year from \6 billion in 2007 to \10 billion in 2010.
In addition, the Bone Metabolism Research Center and the Oral and Maxillofacial Senile Functional Disorder Research Center, which conduct a creative dental research through advanced bioengineering, have been designated as a Science Research Center (SRC) by the previously called Ministry of Science Technology, and the Tooth Bioengineering Lab, which studies on tooth shaping and reproduction, and the Pain Bio-Signal Lab, which develops pain signal adjustment and control technology, have been selected as a National Research Laboratory (NRL) by the National Research Foundation of Korea. Moreover, national support has been expanded for our research activities, including research on interaction network between the microorganism specific molecular pattern and the host’s immune system, and development for bone metastasis inhibitor through CXCL10 adjustment, selected for an experienced researcher project by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
