CAD/CAM 기술이 치과보철학 영역에 널리 적용되면서, 구강 내 경, 연조직을 스캔하고 이를 3차원적으로 재구성하여 subtractive 혹은 additive manufacturing 으로 치아 모형과 보철 수복물을 제작하는 것이 고정성 보철 치료의 중요한 흐름으로 자리 잡고 있다. 최근의 고정성 치과보철 수복치료 영역의 연구 방향은 자연치아와 유사한 물성을 지니면서 구강 내에서 장기간 안정적으로 기능하는 수복 재료를 이용한 치료법을 확립하는 데 있다.
1) 구강악안면영역의 선천적 혹은 후천적인 결손부를 3차원 디지털 스캔을 통한 분석
2) 구강 내에서 장기간 안정적이면서 심미적으로 우수한 보철 수복 소재 개발 및 평가
