측두하악장애를 포함한 구강안면영역의 통증질환 환자를 치료한 임상경험을 바탕으로 만성적이며 고강도의 통증을 호소하는 환자들의 임상적인 특성을 확인하고 분석하여 통상적인 진료에 반응하는 환자와 비교함으로써 환자 진단 및 치료 예후 예측을 위한 진단분류 체계의 계발과 예후 예측인자를 파악하는 연구를 하고 있습니다.
만성안면통증 환자의 경우 급성통증환자와는 여러 가지 측면에서 차이를 보이는데 통증이 만성화될수록 면역계， 내분비계， 신경계가 복잡한 상호작용을 보이게 됩니다.
이 중 면역계가 통증의 만성화에 미치는 영향에 관심을 가지고 있으며 면역계의 변화로 인해 나타나는 임상적인 특성을 분석하여 환자 진단에 이용하고 최적화된 치료법을 계발하는 연구를 수행중입니다.
1. Immunologic interactions in chronic orofacial pain patients: 만성적인 안면통증 환자의 임상， 검사실 자료를 면역， 유전학적인 도구로 분석하여 만성안면통의 기여요인으로 작용하는 면역계의 역할 분석
2. Physiology of chronic orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders: 만성안면통증 및 측두하악장애 환자의 임상자료 및 다양한 정량적감각검사자료를 이용하여 만성안면통증의 생리학적 특성 파악
3. Management of snoring and sleep apnea: 수면다원검사와 구강내장치 사용 예후에 관한 자료 수집을 통한 코골이 및 수면무호흡증의 치과적 치료법 개선
4. Diagnosis and treatment of halitosis: 환자의 임상자료 분석 결과를 바탕으로 효율적이며 안전한 구취 진단 도구 및 치료제 계발
